Estate Planning: an Emergency Survival Kit
Tuesday, October 4, 2011, 7:00 p.m. We are urged by FEMA to prepare an emergency survival kit for ourselves and our loved ones. Whatever emergency we might be caught up in, an earthquake or a tornado, the basic kit will be the same. A flashlight, an out-of-state contact, a blanket can be prepared in advance.
In the same way, the State of California provides some basic estate planning documents that can help us prepare, not just for death, but for incapacity. Whether we are caught up in a serious car accident or if we are the victim of a stroke, the same basic legal documents can be prepared ahead of time so that whatever crisis arises can be managed as seamlessly and inexpensively as possible.
Attorney ELIZABETH BOTSFORD LLM Tax (Hons) will address the importance of making sure you have a nomination of conservator, a springing durable power of attorney and an advance healthcare directive. She will answer your estate planning questions on wills and trusts, estate planning for parents and estate planning for international families. The more the merrier! Share this event on Facebook & Twitter.
